We are looking for a person with expert knowledge of both Substance Designer and Environment art to develop and drive our material pipeline.

You will set and uphold the highest benchmark of quality and ensure this is spread among the rest of the team. You must be forward thinking to oversee the development of our material library and engage in pipeline planning. A keen aesthetic eye is required to refine material requirements with the Lead Environment Artist/Art Director. Strong communication skills are required to drive material development with tech art and engine code teams.

The successful candidate with work alongside the team that created Alien Isolation and Halo Wars 2 to deliver exciting future titles that push at the upper boundaries of material technology.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce benchmark materials using Substance Designer
  • Mentor, support and train the Environment team in up to date methods and technical standards
  • Oversee and develop our material library
  • Work with Lead Environment Artist/Art Director to ensure materials are of the correct Aesthetic
  • Work with Tech art and Engine code to refine our material pipeline and feature set

Knowledge, Skill and Experience

Essential

  • Deep & highly proficient knowledge of Substance designer
  • Knowledge of PBR and physically based material standards
  • High proficiency with 3dsMax
  • Strong communication and mentoring skills
  • Good eye for appropriate stylisation and detail 
  • Able to produce materials in a wide variety of styles and themes
  • Multiple shipped titles within the industry

Desirable

  • Multiple shipped AAA titles in a similar role
  • Substance Painter
  • Working knowledge of C#
  • Proficiency with Zbrush
  • Traditional Art skills
