CA holds smart networking event showcasing inspirational women leaders
May 21 2019 | Studio | Outreach
The UK’s leading game development studio, Creative Assembly, has joined forces with Brighton’s The 9% Event and Women in Games to bring a truly meaningful and inspirational event for game dev students, those interested in a career in gaming and anyone who would like to hear talks from leading women in tech, science and gaming.
Open to everyone from all backgrounds, you are invited to this free event to hear from three female speakers at the top of their ‘game’ about their career paths, their experiences and the challenges they have overcome working in male-dominated industries.
You can also book in advance for a one-to-one portfolio review with Creative Assembly’s expert developers, whether your forte is concept art, 3d art, audio, production, programming or design.
To ensure you get the most out of this event, the 9% Event will be running their ‘smart’ networking method, based on personal objectives set when you book online. You will be matched into groups of others who meet these objectives, to give the most strategic and useful experience for every attendee.
Join us at 3pm until 5:30pm on 9th July 2019 for ‘smart’ networking, refreshments that showcase some of the best of Brighton’s food and drink from woman-founded brands, inspirational speakers and Q&A, and one-to-one portfolio reviews with the UK’s leading game developer.
Please note that the venue is fully wheelchair accessible.

THE NETWORKING
We aim to offer a smarter, more effective and strategic way of networking. When you book your ticket, you will receive an email asking for your top three objectives from the networking section of the evening; for example, to meet other people in your field, to learn and hear more from other experts and their experiences. We will put you into groups, each with a colour code, so that when you arrive, you can locate others in the same group as you, and instantly start up a conversation that will be useful to you both. We understand that attending networking events alone can be intimidating, but with this system, plus our friendly welcome, we will put you instantly at ease and allow you to make the most out of meeting others.
We hope there will be many useful connections made, and even more friendships!
SMART CAREER AND EXPERT PORTFOLIO ADVICE
We will be offering bespoke one to one career advice and/or portfolio reviews of your work. When you book your ticket, you will receive an email asking if you would like to take advantage of this 30 minute session and your top three objectives you would like to gain; for example, how can I improve my portfolio, improving CV layout, and understanding alternative creative digital industry career options. We will then book you a one to one with the relevant developer at the event and you can instantly start up a conversation that will be useful to you both. We understand that attending networking events alone can be intimidating, but with this system, plus our friendly welcome, we will put you instantly at ease and allow you to make the most out of meeting others.
